Default 05 5.3l?

I drove one of my familys 05 4dr 5.3l today and man that thing is SLUGGISH. I think its all in the computer tho but that thing is VERY SLUGISH compared to mine without a chip....granite mine is a single cab short wheel base but it should have still had more prep then it did. btw it had 5k miles.

Is it the computer set back so bad? or does it actually just wiegh THAT much more?

I think the extra weight of the 05 4dr is making the 5.3 feel "slow". There is a considerable difference in weight compared to a RCSB and a crew cab truck. I noticed you also have 4.10 gears. I'm sure those are also making your truck feel faster. If I remember correctly, the standard gear ratio on 2005 trucks is 3.23. That can't be good on a crew cab truck.

I was talkin about when my truck was stock. He has 3.42's in it. The thing just felt like it had ALOT of power left in it that just wouldnt come out.

I know their is a nice wieght diff.

It's the torque managment they put in there to let the trans last longer! That makes it feel slow at times.

My dad's 02 Avalanche is a dawg compared to mine even when compared stock to stock. The 5.3 just isn't enough engine for a heavy truck IMO.

OK, That was just something I had heard, that they were a bit more sluggish that the cable throttle bodies. Please excuse my ignorance.

I think your right. They only seem to be good for 10.0's, they seem like they dont want to hit 9's.
