Right now I'm weighing in the option of just replacing the whole motor...for the amount of money that I've spent I could have just swapped a used one in.

Still no updates with the problem, with the holidays Ive been busy traveling and visiting family. Although I did get the valve springs back on, along with the rockers. The valves need to be adjusted still and once they get properly adjusted I'll knock out a compression test, only because I doubt the dealer did one when they said they did. Hopefully the weather holds up tomorrow after work.

How often have yall seen a bad cam lobe or a stuck lifter cause such a problem like mine?

It is possible, but I would have to think if it wasn't pumping up you would have a specific misfire on a specific cylinder.

I would do a compression check first.

Say it is a bad head gasket between the combustion chambers, wouldn't I still get a good reading or would it be considerably less than normal?

And if I still had a "misfire" shouldn't I still get a code saying I have a misfire? As of right now I do not have the p0300 code and it still technically has a "misfire"

You would see a difference as the compression escapes 1 cylinder and either enters another or enters the coolant passage.

No two mating cylinders would be at TDC on the same compresion stroke

If its running rich it could be lighting off in the exhaust resembling a misfire.

The only way to know what's going on is to physically go through each system.

After talking with a buddy
who was a tech at GM,he suggested that I take it back to the dealer to get real time data to see what all my sensors are saying along with fuel trims. Instead of doing that I looked around online for some diagnostic software and came across this http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/toad/ . After reading the whole site and Amazon reviews, I decided to take the plunge and give it a try. I have the Torque app and a Bluetooth obd2 reader but it works when it wants too. I'm hoping this product will give me a little more insight to the problem before I go taking anymore parts off the motor, especially if I don't have too.

After work this morning I was able to get some help to tighten the rockers down. Once this was complete I temp installed the coils to get this video. The flashing CEL is most likely the p0300 since when I turn the key on there is no CEL that come up, only when the motor is running.

Enjoy!
