Default 03 1500 build thread......

Regular cab short bed
red
5.3 liter
4l60
342 gear

99,000 miles My wife drove this truck since it was pretty much new. Back and forth to work was about it. She has gotten a newer vehicle so now this has become another of my little projects.

Now its retired from regular duty and i get to have a fun truck again. I have always had fast trucks and was starting to really wish i had another one.

Dyno numbers are as follows....

stock with a flowmaster. I mean STOCK!

Modded stock air box....free...just basically cut out as much of the front possible

bypassed throttle body coolant passage....free
tuning with efi live.....free for me since i already bought this to tune my duramax


made 246 peak hp but the power under peak was improved dramatically. Some places as much as 30 hp.

air raid intake tube with modded stock airbox....free
ls1 electric fans.....free
ported throttle body......free (did it myself)
160 t stat from oreilly auto parts....29.99


258 hp peak and picked up as much as 25 in some places across the curve. Very impressed with those mods....Especially for the price

put together a wet kit from old nos parts i had.

super powershot nos noid
cheater fuel noid
nos nozzle
hooked the fuel to the fuel rail

900 psi bottle pressure

53 nos jet
29 fuel jet

Made 368 hp and 470 torque....VERY IMPRESSED to say the least. Air fuel was reading right at 12.1

The trans was just a little lazy in the shifts. Gonna put a shift kit in it and i think it will last a little longer with a nice firm shift. I have upped the pressure just a little and that definately helped but i think it needs a firmer shift.

i dont think the trans is going to hold on nitrous. i have seen people go 12 with a stock trans that for n/a. i would say get a gear what a difference, i just put my 4.10 the other day you wont be disappointed.

working on the gears....Not sure if the trans is gonna hold, but i aint losing anything by putting a shift kit in it.
