Default 01 8100 swap?

Well I just got an 01 chevy 3500 with the 8100 and Allison that is totaled. I've been doing some searching and can't find a lot of info about this but Im wanting to put the engine and trans in my 03 chevy 1500. Surely someone has already been down this road but I can't find any threads where anyone has gone threw with it. I'm just wondering how hard it's gonna be, and to make sure I have everything I need. I also wanted to hear any results from anyone that have done this. Thanks guys!

aftermarket is kinda limited, and the parts are expensive. Would still be a cool build, IMO. Sell the allison, get a 4l80e. The allison isnt a straight forward swap.
