Default WTB: 5.3 long block

Looking to get started on my budget build boosted 5.3 swap into my 95 Z.

I am looking for a low mile 5.3 long block, I only need the block w/rotating assembly & heads; i.e. no truck intake, manifolds, oil pan, or accessories, etc as I need fbody oil pan & accessories. 05+ would be a plus as someone mentioned they have better rods in them. I'm in California 30mins east of San Francisco, so the closer the better unless shipping is reasonable.

Let me know what you have!

Looks like by chance I found a 06 5.3 with 37k miles, asking $1k. Sound like a reasonable price? How much could I get back for selling the stock accessories/oilpan/intake/maninfolds?

I paid $1000+tax for my 2006 5.3 with 16,000 miles a year ago. This was a complete engine with harness and all accessories (minus a/c and alternator) from a local engine salvage yard. You might could talk that guy down some on the price.

I'll see if he's including the harness & all accessories including a/c & alt, if not I'll talk him down some. I think I might go check it out today.

I have an '07 5.3L from an Avalanche I'll sell for $800. It has 500 miles on the short block. See here:

Not sure what S/H from TX to CA would be.

Interested in a 2000 65k mile 5.3l LM7 shortblock (block with rotating assembly and cam) and matching 706 heads? Block/bores are in great shape and had a 160-170 psi compression in all cylinders before it was broke down to an assembled shortblock and heads. I'm building a forged 370 so I picked it up for parts.

I'm going to post it tomorrow afternoon on some forums and CL but I can email you some pictures before I post it. i'd like to get $400 for it.

I'm over in Lafayette (about 12 minutes from SF) so I think we are neighbors. :-)
Email me if your interested.

Thanks, Rick

Thanks for the offer guys, I actually just got back home an hour ago from picking up that 06 block from Livermore. Quickest find I've ever been able to find something I need, especially since I just made up my mind today about starting the project.

Thanks! BTW, how much did you put down with your TT set up? Sounds sick.

I got it for the $1k, computer & wiring harness and all accessories (minus alt/ac unit) & some misc fuel lines I can't even use probably lol. I'll have to post up the truck stuff I don't need soon.
