Lol I stuck a NP241C transfer case in her.

NP241c is a manual shift on the floor case, same input and out put spline count.

Front shaft will have to be gotten from the same truck as the 241c case and get the jeep upgrade shift cables to shift it and make your own T handle or what not to shift it (takes some DIY fab but worth it)

also need a VSS pig tail from the same truck ya get the 241c from, or they sell them at O'Reillys.
My gauge cluster is out of the truck getting fixed but on my HP Tuners scanner it shows the correct MPH and wasn't off at all, so the pick up wheel in the case from the 89 1500 (NP241C) I got was the same as the NP149 AWD.

NP241c is a 3 speed
2wd Hi
N
4Hi
4Lo

For now I don't have any linkage yet and just hand clicked in 2HI and left it.

In order to get our trucks to shift while using 4Lo (which I don't ever plan on using so I don't care)
you'll have to get the other pigtail for the 4Lo switch on the T-Case and wire it to the ground signal on the PCM (duno what pin it is but wouldn't be hard at all to add in)
may have to edit the shift tables in the Trasn File in the PCM for it to work w HP or EFI Live

Seriously, there's a difference between AWD and 4WD. Removing the AWD transfer case is just plain silly. Buy a 4x4 truck instead. There is literally millions of them available. All wheel drive is what made the SS unique.

More power to ya, but why? I literally would have gave you my transfer case. I sold it for $15 when I swapped in the NP149.
