I just called PI and the spring helps retain fluid in the converter. I do not have it. It installs in the pump. He said it is not mandatory but it is suggested.

I asked about a price and he said if you send the converter in just ask for it and he will throw one in for free.

good deal. so it doesnt need to be sent in and gone through. your just saying for anyone who wants to stall it to there dsired speed

I never used the stall. I bought it with the intentions of having it restalled anyways because it would stall too high for my needs. I would suggest getting this converter at least cut and cleaned at minimum. I would do that with any converter I bought second hand.

This stall would be a great performance stall but what I did not know at the time is that you are limited to what you can tow with a smaller diameter converter. If it was a 10.5" I would not be selling it.

I spoke with the guys at PI and they said the spring is not necessary but it is added insurance. I want to say it increase the fluid volume in the converter. I may be wrong on that though.

Also,

I am leaving for San Antonio Friday. I can meet someone anywhere on I10 between San Antonio and Beaumont. I will be in the Austin area for one day as well.
