408 High Compression Shortblock for sale
I purchased this shortblock a while back with the intention on having it honed and dropping in -12 to -15'cc dish pistons for the twin Garrett GT3071r's in my truck. Plans have changed (ie:bad economy) and I'm going to put it up for sale. With the Flat top Diamonds, you will get 10:9 to 11.9 compression depending on your heads.
The block has 8k on it (as a 408) and got new rings, bearings and a honing about 500 miles ago. No N2O since it was freshened up. I'd like to get $3000 b/o.
408 iron block (balance/blueprinted/decked/line honed)
Eagle Crank
Eagle rods
Diamond 4.030" -2cc flat tops
Deck height .015 (below deck)
Total Seal rings
Clevite rod and main bearings
Durabond cam bearings
ARP main and head studs
True roller hex adjust timing chain
Ported LS6 oil pump
Camaro oil pan/windage tray/pickup
Front, rear and valley cover(w/knock sensors)
No cam
Thanks for looking, Rick

That's a pretty fat cam in your truck. Must sound pretty sick.

The orignal owner said he blew the tranny out at the track (he ran it at the track for about 1 1/2 years in the Street/strip class,). It wasn't his daily driver but he drove it pretty regularily. He decided to do a bunch of suspension work and then thought it would be a good idea to freshen up the motor while the tranny was out. After he had it freshened up with new Seal Power rings, new Clevite rod and main bearings and a honing, he drove it for about 500 miles (no N2O) while working on the suspension and other upgrades. Then he got a deal on a 427 shortblock that he couldn't pass up so he pulled the 408 and sold it to me. If I don't find a buyer, I'll install the -29cc JE pistons I picked up (after a fresh honing and balance) and put on some 243's and crank up the boost.
