Question Which Z06 cam? '01 or '02+?

Okay... the '01 has a tighter LSA and less exhaust duration while the '02+ have more lift and a wider LSA.

'01 Cam - 204/211 .525/.525 116LSA

'02 Cam - 204/218 .551/.555 117.5LSA

I'd think the '01 is a better cam despite it's slightly lower lift. What do you guys think? What about the smaller base circle I read about?

I personally would go with the 01 as the 02 has a smaller base circle. Just advance it 4*. It will idle smoothly and it will be in a more useable rpm range.

the smaller base circle can be accomodated by longer pushrods, although alot of people run it w/ stock p-rods. I've got the 02 in my burb and it really needs a converter to get all that weight(5800) moving off the line. pulls really good @ 6200 where my shifts are set. probbably will go little higher w/ the shift now that I've got the headers on. If you've got a light truck I'd go 02' advanced 4 degrees

I have an 02 and it likes the rpm's. I would think the 01 would be a better choice. Mines idles fine and I am using stock pushrods.

So would the '01 installed straight up (no + or -) pull to what RPM? ~6300?

Would 2800-3000rpm worth of stall make this cam work fine in a heavy truck like mine?

it worked fine in my 8.75:1 compression F-body with a turbo. I used it with a (M6)stick. I assume it would pull to 6500+ if you wanted .....what's the 01 z06 redline? I would think that your stall would be great with that cam. I didn't need ANY tuning...

I would go for the 01'. The extra lift is not going to do much and the lower LSA on the 01' would shift the powerband downa bit which is nice in the trucks. With a 3000stall you'll be ok either way but I still hated it until about 4-4.5k rpm. I had the 02' Z06 cam. The cam I have now is much better though. LOL
