Default Z06 block or 6.0??

The Z06 block is aluminum right?? Which woud be a better builder?? I would need new heads too since it will be FI, right?? Whats a good price for these?? I saw a new LS6 block on Ebay for $850. Will the other stuff on my 5.3 transfer over?? What would install on something like this run?? Just trying to plan my next adventure

Id go with an iron 6.0L block. Just a stouter platform to start on. Not sure on the 5.3L parts transferring over...

Well all LS1 blocks are aluminum too. The Z06 is an LS6 block...prolly just a slight difference in casting materials. Lots of late F-bods had LS6 blocks. Would I prefer one? Yes. Will it make that much of a difference? Nope.

With an aluminum block you're gonna shed some unsprung weight...good not only for take off but overall weight loss...well as much as you can drop in a Tahoe! The 6.0 is gonna be cheaper as is and lower compression if you opt for the LQ4 version.

5.3 heads on an LS1/6 motor will bounce compression to like 11:1 I believe it is! So that's no good for the blower.

Hrm... I wonder since that's a centrifugal blower if you could be okay running 9.5-10:1 compression. Boost is determined by RPM with that blower so you should be able to pull timing and stuff up top to keep it from knocking.

Are you considering a budget stroker?

An LS6 block has better porting for oiling. Boring wil require sleeves etc...More $$$$

With a budget stroker would I be using my original 5.3?? Im looking for the most reliability and strength for my money. Also I want something that isnt going to require an expert builder. I havent had much luck with people around here so Id like to have as few hands in it as possible. I dont mind leaving a little power on the table as long as it is reliable and relatively problem free.

Go for the 6.0 block. The weight difference does not make up for the 6.0s extra 20ci. They are also cheaper and you could use the money to buy some 6.0 heads, which flow better than LS1 heads.

If you are going to go boosted then go with your 5.3 block and bore it out to a 346 you can get off the shelf pistons for cheap and just use the stock rods and crank. I would suggest using arp hardware thoughout.

Wouldnt I be giving up some strength if I were to bore it out?? I would still need headwork or new heads to keep compression down right???
What ARP hardware would I need???
Wouldnt a 6.0 be cheaper and more reliable when all is said and done??? Just trying to get things straight.
