An LQ9 can certainly do 1000hp, but not as a 427. You will have much better longevity with it as a 402 or 408 due to increased cylinder wall thickness.

A long block just includes the shortblock and heads, no accessories.

been there and done this a few years ago with my sierra denali and i ended with a LSX block due to pushing the heads off with boost. but i was using a turbo. and a 6.0 block would do fine up till 900rwhp or mine did anyway.

Have you done this? no then sit this one out. no f'ing way the lq9 will hold with the weight of the vehicle and that much power. and the bore isnt the worst part, the 4 inch stroke will kill it also. too much bad information on the internet it will make you sick.

roots blower will make huge torque down low, where the HGs wont last

I've never heard of a 100% bulletproof 1000hp engine (unless of course you're talking about something not automotive related). If it isn't tested to 100% duty cycle, how could you know its bulletproof? Point is that many engines can make 1000hp and have done so...but that says nothing about how often and how many times, and whether or not they lived. I guarantee I could pull 1000 out of my stock 6.0. But it might be just that one time... A forged LQ9 will, as will a stroker motor. But it will never be bulletproof.

fun fact, my setup considered bulletproof.

LSX block, full fill with block filler, oringed, 1/2 studs
LSX heads
Billet crand
Callies ultra rods,
Diamond custom piston

25psi, 1900hp, just cracked the LSX block, $15,000 motor...

...... not bullet proof

the bottom end is not the problem with the lq9, its keeping the head one it. a drag car is one thing but a DD has to be over engineered. if you take that thing 500 miles from home and blow a head gasket u r f'ed

That is correct. Forged 402 with an 80mm turbo, and I have no fears about it being unreliable for two reasons...the tune on it is very conservative, and more importantly I don't drive like a jackass all the time. Just because it makes 1000hp doesn't mean you need that all the time, he'll I don't think I've been in boost in the last 3 or 4 days. Tomorrow I will driven an hour to the track, turn up the boost for probably 5 or 6 runs then drive it back home like I've been doing all summer.

It makes 1000rwhp? not 800 with a 20percent loss so 1000 at the engine, bla bla bla. we are talking 1000 hp at the wheels where it matters..

you also have a light truck compared to a denali.
