Its kinda like if you were slipping the clutch on a manual car. He's right, it is hard to explain. It fully engages at higher RPM's than stock.

I think the clutch on a manual car is the best description. IN nuetral, you give it gas and it doesn't go anywhere. A converter feels like halfway between in-gear and neutral (until it hits its stall speed). The benefit is when you stomp it, it spins up top higher rpms (where you are making more power) before you start moving. Loose is different to each person.

Flyer - I liked my TT3000 on my Z71, but at times it was just too loose for me as well. My TT2600 in my SS is just rught. It has the 2600 mild manners, but since I'm making more power, it stalls higher. Maybe 2800 stall. At times I wish it were bigger, but not too much. I wish I could have the WOT high stall of a 3200+ but the easy street manners of this 2600.

Yup .. the SS uses a 4l60e based tranny. Same thingg in your car basically, just the planetary are 5 pinion hence the 4l65e tranny, rather than the standard 4 pinion planetary.

What about driving down the highway? Since my operating rpm will be below the rated stall speed will it be slipping going down the highway at 2000 rpms? I am now thinking about going with the 2600 but am not sure. I do no towing but want to preserve my tranny awhile longer.

The amount of stall is dependant on the amount of throttle so you are not slipping at part throttle, when more throttle is applied the transmission downshifts so you only notice the stall during aggressive driving.I've had a Yank3000 for over a year and seldom notice it accept on hard launches or on a steep hill, where the truck will roll backwards unless a little throttle or brake is applied.

thanks-- I think I may just go for a 2600 then, I think that the 3000 might be too much for my application I just don't want my gas mileage to go down much

go for the 3000. you won't regret it. once you have that 2600 in, you'll wish you had a hihger stall. i didn't notice much difference in MPG. depends on how you drive it.

What about a tranny cooler? Is one really needed or are you using it without an aftermarket cooler? Also it doesn't feel like it is slipping going down the highway does it? I don't really want that "uncomfortable feeling" like as if my tranny is going out.
