Default y pipe vs x pipe

What do you guys run and for what reason ? I'm looking to buy speed engineering headers and wondering if it's worth the hassle to build an x pipe setup instead of the y pipe they offer?

The truck is staying n/a this year with upgraded intake manifold but next year I have the lsa blower laying in the corner of my garage

For no specific reason i run y pipe on 5.3 engines and duals w x on 5.7 and larger. No dyno evidece for all combos... Just what i do. I gained good power on 5.7 and larger by stepping up to larger primaries and duals. I just dont see a na 5.3 needing that much exhaust.

I think it comes down to total exhaust volume more then anything. If you have duals then X and a Y if you have single. I run dual 3" into single 4" and really like it.

the plan is to have a side exit with twin tips before the rear right wheel so 3 " all the way would do the job

I ran 2.5" ss/denali duals on my ecsb to an h pipe i made (which in all reality is probably too far from the engine to be of any real purpose) i am about to rework it for long tubes with an xpipe about where my cat pipes connect to the extension pipes...... If i ever go the lsa route like i keep daydreaming about, i will probably go to a 3inch dual setup, not that i think it really needs it...

5.3 can use the bigger exhaust at that point.
