I heard that the 03 and newer use a different locker. When I race and do a burnout in the waterbox. I spin the tires up to 40 mph and they stay locked. Also my dad has a 01 yukon and my acts totaly different then his does. Mine is always posi when I spin and his locks and unlocks. So maybe the older ones just unlock above 20 and the new ones always lock.

"Cheap" will translate into lower reliability, especially if will be abused. The most streetable well-performing limited-slip differential out there is the Eaton Posi in my experience. They take abuse. Unfortunately they are NOT cheap.

My older G80's were definitely acted much worse than the one I have now. I'm not sure if it's the AWD, or if there really was a change.

For whatever reason, I've been lighting up the inside rear tire a lot lately when pulling away from stops. The first few times it happened, I thought my tranny was slipping or something. These tires smell weird.

In the snow, I can't really tell what goes on. The front pulls and torque steers with it's open diff... but I don't hear the rear end banging around or cycling from one axle to the other.... like my older G80's did.
