Exclamation Wrong CAM! ?

I got my 212/218 comp cam in, .522/.529 lift, anyway
it was an ebay auction i won, he said its new in box, when i opened it...

It look used? I contacted the seller and he said he never opened it, so i called comp up to ask them about the serial number on the cam and it does not match anything that they have, so its not a comp cam.

The seller will take a refund, but i wanted to ask if any if you guys have a 212/218 cam to compare with mine. on the back of the camshaft it has the number:
0965
4 13
8121

so im pretty sure ill send it back to him and get a refund.

Does it looked used to you guys?

It has 16 "polished like scratches" on the lobes it looks like it was probably used?

what do you think? TTT

I have the same cam sitting in my garage. The only number on it is 2871E. I wouldn't put the one you have in.

............I have yet to see a cam out of these motors, but juding from the old flat-tappet ones I've pulled and swapped in the past, it does look slightly used.

Don't take that with TOO much authority though - I really have ZERO experience with these cams as far as this stuff goes. I'm just concerned about the wavy 'more polished' areas of the lobes there that you pointed out. I don't see that type of stuff on the cams I see on the sponsors sites.

If it IS used, the bright side is that it doesn't matter much. There's little-to-no wear with the roller cams. That's not to say that I wouldn't be pretty upset at this point, but...

Contact teh seller and try to resolve it. Make him send you a refund before you send the cam back. If this doesnt work, contact eBays SafeHarbor. Outline what has happened and get them in the know just in case things really go south. He sold you an item other than what was listed. Its a violation of eBays rules and regs. They can get things situated.

That sucks man.... The part # for the cam you were waiting is 54-412-11 and the grind number is XR265HR. This last # should engraved into the cam. Hope you get the situation resolved.
