Default WOW, just WOW.

So a car is brought to me with a motor that was just rebuilt and has no oil pressure. Pull out the motor found the problem and put it back in. Perfect oil pressure, I let it idle for about 30 min to get all air out of coolant system and while i clean up the garage. Still perfect. Go for a test drive and it starts knocking REAL bad. Get back check rockers, all tight. Pull the motor yesterday and one rod cap is about halfway off. The rest are only finger tight.
WOW, just WOW.

I always had check lists when I was building the few engines I have. Even without that don't think I'd forget to tighten fasteners.

Damn. I try to go back over every single bolt before buttoning it up.

I purchased a Shortblock for my blazer several years ago and When I was putting everything on it I made sure to flip it and double check the Rod Bolts.

I pulled a dumbass like that once, It was on my old Street stock oval track car. I was in a mad rush trying to get a motor put back together so I could race that week end, and only tightened one of the heads down with a speed handle and forgot to torque it. Got it running, loaded it up and headed to the track. Made 2 laps and it got hot. Pulled it off the track and back to the pits where I notice water coming out between the head and the block and was like WTF found the loose head bolts, . Torqued the head down and ran perfect for the rest of the season!

I forgot to put a oil pump drive shaft in once. Found it before firing the engine. Looked in the parts box toward the end of the build and found it.

Heh! My brother built up a 1969 Chevy Z28 302 with 13:1 popups, solid lift, blah, blah and filled it with a degreaser that was in a similar container as the oil. Uhg!

I know a guy who put a motor in a truck. Got it all buttoned up and went to start it. No flywheel.
