Would you cut stock airbox again

I thought I had read in the past with people not liking the mod after the fact. Why did you cut the whole outside panel out? Wouldn't that let hot engine bay air in as well? Everyone pasically takes some dryer tubing down to the tow hook area, eh?

i havent made a ram air valence yet but plan to at some time. some have used the flexible dryer vent hose, and others have used 4" plastic PVC
i cut the entire side out because it got rid of all of the baffles and scoops and such. its butted right next to inner side of the front fender, so no hot air gets in. and the hole in the bottom faces a space where freeflowing air is. its separated from the hot engine bay by the foam heat shield thing and separated from direct water contact from the tire by the inner fender wheel well

i used a 3" circle saw to punch a hole in the bottom side of my box. also went through the metal plate below the box. then hooked up a volant air system below it. i would do it again.

I did exactly what nightrunner did and yes i would do it again....i also modified my intake tube going to the throttle body....i cut all the baffles off of it and then fiberglassed and smoothed the entire thing to create a normal tube.

i just got a new intake tube made of steel and used silicone couplers and a rubber elbow

i took a paddle bit and made several holes that became a single 3 inch hole.then a few days later i took the whole bottom half off and took some small screws and made the filter stay flush with the top half. i was
but it worked.

but it worked.

This is what I did but I installed a 3" sewercap so in rainy weather, I could plug up the Volant ram-air. With that being said, I also smoothed out the inside if the stock air that's up against the fire wall. I made a meyal plate to block off the fenderwell hole. So basically when the ram-air is "open"(3" sewer plug is out), the plate blocks the fenderwell hole. When it rains I plug the hole(3" sewer plug is in) and remove the metal block off plate.
