would a cam work good without a set of heads? for a 2005 silverado ext cab. Well just askin cause my friend went to this custom tuning place here in hayward and he said that a cam wont do **** with out a set of heads . is this true?

Ignore that guy, he doesn't know anything. Most 5.3L trucks that install a mild cam (comp 212/218) gain 25rwhp. Install a larger cam and look for larger gains. Of course, headers, intake, and other mods compliment the cam, but heads certainly are required. I'd say that there are very few guys here running ported heads, but many of us have cams installed.

They are full of it.All you have to do to your heads is replace the springs and push rods in most cases.The heads on these trucks usually do just fine.
Prob 90%of the guys on here have a cam with just the bare min on stuff they need in the heads and make alot more power.

becuase i was thinkin bout buyin a cam but then he told me that and i was like thats bull **** many cams can get u 25-30 rwhp oh

and btw my mods are true dual exhaust with dynomax bullets , aem intake , no cats long tube headers and custom dyno tune 301rwhp and 316lbs of torq* but note i had previous edelbrcok shorties and cats now i need to retune so i was thinkin why not just slap a cam on thier

You already have good heads from the factory. The tuning place is retarded.

Definitely find another tuner, sounds to me like he just wants to sell you more parts.
