Default is it worth it?

I have a 05 gmc sieera with a 4.8l .the 4.8l is gutless, well the 35 inch tires dont help and 342 gears, would swapping in a 5.3 be worth it? I have a brute force intake with a gibson catback exhaust,i planned on doing a nelson tune and some long tube headers and swapping gears with 4.56 gears, but is this all worth it, or just start with the 5.3l and then add these upgrades? Thanks

swapping from a 4.8 to a 5.3 is not worth it. do the 4.56s first, then look into a radix superchager.

If you swap. swap to a 6.0.

To the op, I would do gears a tune and some long tubes you had the right idea. It should wake it up. I give props to those who did swaps, but sometimes there are other alternatives and it's all up to you.

Any mod you do with a 4.8 can eventually swap over to the 6.0 so what difference does it make.

Off the top of my head, the only quasi-normal mod that I can think of that would be different for the two different engines would be what cam to slide in, but swapping cams to sell the old one is cake. There's always someone willing to buy a cam kit.

As long as super huge expensive heads aren't slapped on, you're good to go with most bolt-ons.
