Default Worried about oil consumption

So since winter has started and I let my truck idle to warm up for 10-15min every morning I have noticed it smells like its burning oil.

Then I got a low engine oil light I checked it and there was hardly anything showing! (usually I check atleast once a month but I'm a ***** in the cold)

So I decided it was about time for an oil change. Apon draining the old oil and then putting it into empty oil jugs to dispose of I noticed I had just over about 3.5 qts drain out. I let it drain with the oil cap off for about 20mins until it was nothing but drops dripping and even dumped the oil out of the oil filter into the drain pan so 3.5qts seemed low to me!

There is no oil spots in the garge from where it is dripping and no visable leaks anywhere from the block or pan.

Truck has just at 103k miles and I run 5w-30 Mobile1 full synthetic.

Anyone have any suggestions on what it might be?

I have the same problem man. No smoke, no leaks no broken rings lol I do believe there actually is a minimum to how much oil consumption is allowable. I got my timed at right about 2,000 miles then the light will kick on. So I just change it at 1500 with full synthetic 5w-30 mobile one as well....

what brand? I tried royal purple on an old setup and experienced consumption quicker than I liked. switched back to mobil-1 synthetic and all problems went away.

yeah I wasn't impressed by it at all. I'll stick to mobil-1. always wanted to try amsoil but it's not as easily available around here.

What if going to back to a none synthetic fixes the issue.

Stranger things have happened before.

I have also been running mobile one.

If no PCV then what George?

I have thought about swapping to some cheap dyno oil next round so maybe in a few months I'll report back on that.
