Default Windage tray ?

This is on a 408. The rods are hitting the tray so I searched and found that they say to put washers under the tray to lower it. but what about the positions that the pickup tube bolts to. I would think that you would'nt want the tube lowered also since they are pretty sensitive in the o-ring to pump connection. So did you guys cut those positions on the tray out where the pickup tube mounts to or what did you do ?

I think I'm going to cut out the area where the pickup tube mounts on top of the tray and put washers under every thing and the tube should still be in its same location in the pump. I just do'nt want to move the tube out of the pump at all. since they seem to have problems in that area anyway.
