Default Will I get and DRONE or RASP?

I hate drone and rasp, can someone tell me If Im going to have a problem with LPP longtubes, LPP ORY all running into a STOCK TAHOE MUFFLER, DUMPED right after with a turn down?

I dont want the pipe coming out the rear, and the stock pipe after the muffler is like 2.5" so I was going to dump right as it exits the muffler, and add a turn down to the ground. I don't want any rasp or drone at any rpms, its my daily driver. Should I be good to go??

If it dumps under your car you will have probably drone no matter what muffler/exhaust combo you have. The sound will literally bounce from the ground to the underbody and back creating drone. I have recently dumped my exhaust (large 18" case borla muffler) under the bed of my truck and it drones like crazy. Every time I go over a metal grate on a bridge the drone goes away (because the sound CANT bounce back to the underbody). As soon as I pass the metal grate the drone comes back.

If you don't want to see any pipes you could probably aim the pipes out from underneath the truck but the end of the pipes would need to be close to the edge of the vehicle (if that makes any sence?)

I plan on changing my setup here soon to bring my pipes closer to the rear/sides of the bed. I don't want to see pipes either.

thing is im 2/3 drop... Im hoping with a sharp turn down, it will be NO DRONE. Sorta like those big ole work trucks, I doubt they have drone, but they exhaust is so much bigger. Would a resonator after the stock muffler dumped after resonator be better? OR do I need to take it past the axle then dump it. Really would not like to use the 2.5 pipe.

I always have my dump welded at a 45* angle so that rather then pointing straight down it aims at the ground just outside of bed if that makes sense. I will warn that I have heard LTs with an ORY and the factory muffler rattled at high rpm.

makes sense Robert. I may do that, thing is Im being cheap, and going to skip on the muffler right now, main part of that is cause I like quietness. But if the muffler fails Im going to be forced to revamp things.

Here are my plans are going to be to cut and remove ALL the 2.5" pipe... So the muffler will be dumped right after at a 45* down turn.

Your LPP's will be loud in the cabin from just header noise (the thin walls of the primary compared to thick cast iron manifolds). I personally wouldn't dump it, I would leave the stock exhaust in place, install the headers, then see how the noise level is, then you can go from there.

Interesting, hadn't thought about that, but makes perfect sense. I had headers on Gen1s but not on a 3. I can stand the ticking, but I wouldn't think it would be into the cab loud as long as I have no leaks, everything should be quite before the muffler.... I agree about seeing where my levels are at 1st. I was just thinking more of performance, than anything. The stock 2.5" pipe is going to choke the Vmax, thus me wanting to dump right at the muffler and eliminate using the 2.5 pipe. I was told to add 3" muffler and run 3" pipe, but there goes cost again... Right now I can bolt everything up with no shop. I do want performance, and I think that the stock muffler being the only bottle neck, I can get good performance out of it. While still leaving a little on the table if I get a good magnaflow or corsa touring. I want to get it tuned, with it dumped, and just the stock muffler.

Corsa + LT's = loud (don't know why, but do a search on here about it)

And I have stock exhaust piping too, but am running 3" mufflers just in case I wanted to do a custom 3" exhaust in the future I wouldn't have to buy new mufflers.

But yeah, when I first fired my tahoe up after I installed them, I thought for sure I had an exhaust leak. Checked it for half an hour, drove it around, then retightened everything. Turns out, they are just that loud in the cab. And I have dynomatted doors and liftgate too. Also, use band clamps, your stock header bolts, and re-use the stock gaskets, everything that comes with the LPP kit other than the headers is junk. And your O2's will reach, no extensions needed. Pick up some copper RTV as well to really seal it up.
