hey all, my little brother has a 94 chevy with a 350, hes got headers, a CAI and exhaust on it and since he got it over the summer it has had a hard time starting. the guy he bought it from said he had just put a new alternator in it, and my brother has put a new battery in it and he also got new plugs wires, cap and rotor, and a new fuel filter and the oil was changed less then 3000 miles ago, and we tried seafoam to see if that would help. now when he tries to start it it still takes a long time for it to start. the truck turns over, but it just wont start. he tries taping the throtte to get it some gas, and it works but it still takes him a long time. it only does this when the engine is cold. another problem that has come up recently is when he puts it in drive the truck idles almost at zero and will sometimes just shut off, but thats only in drive. he has had it happen several times to him. do you guys have any ideas that might fix his problems with it? thanks for your help guys.

yeah, checking the timing would be a good place to start. If you come to the conclusion that the tbi needs to be rebuilt then it is very easy to do yourself and you can pick up a kit at just about any parts store for about $20

You also might want to check the fuel pump relay. If this is bad, the fuel pump power is controlled by the back up unit on the oil pressure sending unit.
When the engine is cold, it takes longer for the oil pressure to come up, in order to close the switch. When the engine is warm, oil pressure is right there.
Look at the injectors at idle to verify that both are spraying.
