Why did this happen w/ the UPD?
#1
After three long weeks
,I finally got my UPD and installed it 3 days ago. I can hear more air getting into the engine, but my truck now shifts sooner. I had the HPP3 set at +3 for 1-2 shift and +10 for 2-3 and it was shifting at about 6000 rpm at WOT. After I installed the UPD it now shifts at about 5700 rpm, which made the truck a tad slower.
What caused my shift points to drop? What should I do to get it back to shifting at 6000 rpm?

I don't know why the UPD would do that, but set your shift points to +4 on the 1-2 and +12 on the 2-3 and then set ur rev limiter on 6200 rpms. I've had mine set this way since I got it and it shifts at ~6k for the 1-2 shift and then at 6K for the 2-3 shift.

For some reason, which I'm not to sure about, the MAF has a lot to do with the shifting of the transmission, including firmness and shift points.

I had something very similar happened to me with my 01. When I initialy installed my HPP3, I was shifting @ about 6k. However, after several months, I was shifting several 100's rpm's lower.

On a side note .. I don't see how shifting at 6k would help perfomance unless you were blown or cammed or some other type of engine mod (not bolt on).
The stock cam shuts down quick at about 5300-5400. After that, it's just raising rpm's for the shift.

Ok, I changed my shift points and rev limiter this morning from +3 & +10 to +4 & +12 and rev limit up to 6200 rpms and my truck will still shift at around 5700 rpm.
Could this be TM? Timing? Running lean? So what should I do now?

Are you sure you installed your MAFS back in the correct direction? Is the truck running bad? If it is seeing a problem with the meter, it could be in limp mode.
