Default whos got the quickest 4.8? might have to do something about that, 6.0 is messed up

i finialy got that motor all tore down. it is prety messed up. 2 broke pistons, debre in 2 other holes. 3 beat up chambers, one good cylinder scratch, one bent valve.

i dont think it is worth tring to piece together. i am going to toss in the 4.8 and see what it will do. should be fun pushing the 4.8. probably put the valve springs in that i have coming and that is it.

also going to start geting parts together for the 6.0 block but it could be a few months since i need heads now too.

11's with a 4.8?

Are both heads beyond repair? If not, find one other. If its light imperfections, just get the deck surfaced for a good seal. Maybe remove any chamber issues with a dremel. That 6L head on a 4.8 should really reduce compression. Might make the some powerful boost. Put the 6L cam in the 4.8.

i change my mind more than a woman

just looked up some used parts and it seems the local truck recycler has a 2001 6.0 just siting there ready for pick up for $950. that is very tempting, i was really looking forward to seeing what a 6.0 could do, big cam, moderate boost. i just can't seem to get myself to put that 4.8 back in.

couple good things about this plan. keep my 4.8 intack so when i do go to sell the truck i can put it closer to stock. get to play with a 6.0, get to test my restalled stall on about the same motor as before. get to use that big *** cam. get to have a 6.0 on the stand for building, probably be able to sell it for most of $950 when i am done with it if i dont blow it up.

does it sound like i am trying to talk myself into it?

one thing i know for sure. 4.8's suck!!

Same here. I was going to just put a stock 5.3 back in for a while-you can get them dirt cheap most of the time. But, like you I kept talking myself back into a 6.0 I bought one at the local yard and was going to just put it in but I found a problem with it so now I am maxing out the credit card and building a whole new motor with good rods, custom cam etc. I vote for going with the 6.0!!

v8. Now i know that you arn't bashing on us little 4.8's. When there is a 4.8 that is number 10 on the list, how can you say they suck. Im sorry that i dont just put a 6.0 in the truck but i would rather just kick ford *** with a 4.8.

Parish: i think the turbo would be sick on the 4.8. Then you would be giving me a run for my money. Well untill the new engine is done...
