Tom Nelson of Nelson Racing Engines has a good video on YouTube discussing LS engines and the concerns with stroker cranks in them on factory blocks. Not saying they don't make awesome power or that anyone is wrong in doing it, but its worth a watch in my opinion. 9 minutes in is when he talks about the stroker engines.

Just dyno'd it today actually. 550 WHP.

Boost is 10 - 11 psi. Will be increasing it after I install studs.

Runs great! love the way it drives and how it goes into full boost. The feeling is incredible.

6.0L can be built better and cheaper. Some performance magazine built a boosted 383 that hit 1000+ in torque. Forget who it was.

This is actually a subject i have been thinking about for a while.
I have a late model aluminum 5.3 block that can be sleeved to anything, and i am seriously considering building a 383.
My thought is the smaller bore coupled with longer stroke is better at managing knock. The obvious tradeoff is unshrouding the valves. Considering I would be putting it in a full size pickup, additional torque is always welcome. Another driving factor for me is I prefer to build a cathedral motor so huge inches isnt necessarily a good fit.
We have all seen how successful the stock 5.3s have been, so i wonder if its only because they are cheaper than 6.0s or is there more to it?
anyway...its a fun concept to consider.
