Default Who has painted their motor?

I know, I know this doesn't exactly qualify as internal engine performance, but I've never painted a motor before and I'm going to be starting an older lsx truck build and was curious how you guys did it. Block only? Block and heads only? Block, heads, timing cover, valley cover, water pump? Chevy painted orange or corporate blue are cool colors from the 70s since my truck is a 77. Show me what you've done! I'm asking here because I'll be using a truck intake. Bonus points for white engine bays!

No white engine bay on this truck... my other heap is white and it will be similar. First pic is current and the second is my mock up and ultimately the finished product. Mine is more or less how an LSX block is finished with the machined edges natural and orange valve covers. Heads are natural aluminum as is the valley cover and the timing cover, pan and rear cover are just silver spray paint. When I do the GTO's setup I want to mimic an actual Pontiac engine and it likely will be an LSX block. It will get Pontiac Blue everywhere and a carb style intake so I can run the ram air air cleaner.

Block and covers painted and cleared. Heads cleared with Exo Armour to maintain raw aluminium look and not tarnish.

Thanks. The engine bay will be fully detailed once it's done. The truck won't be much of a driver so I am not concerned about things corroding really while it lives most of it's life in a heated shop lol. I originally painted the block black after it was tanked and just fogged over whatever was on it. Well..... after it was assembled I wanted this look and spent like 8 hours stripping rust and the GM epoxy coating. This block looked like it came off the Titanic so it took a lot to get it to this lol. I have multiple blocks.... why I used this mess don't ask haha.

What brand paint did you use?

Is Exo Armour a rattle can clear? I wonder how long it holds up over time?

Duplicolor Engine Enamel. I have had terrible luck with clear in heat in the past so I didn't use any. Maybe that exo-armour is good, never heard of it.

No it’s a 2 part almost epoxy like but runny. Made to withstand salt, water, heat etc. it’s made by Eastwood.
