I recently bought a 2000 silverado LT with a whipple supercharger already installed. Since i got the truck I have been having problems with the tranny. When i go full throttle it will not shift into the next gear until i get off of the gas pedal. I found the shop that did all the work for the truck and they gave me a print out of what all they had done to the truck. I found out that the shop had raised the shift points on the tranny with a power programmer. I was thinking those of you that had your whipples installed was there any changes that were done to the computer to make it work or did the whipple computer do all the work. The reason i ask is because i am thinking about taking my truck to the Chevy dealership and have them reflash the computer back to stock form. Do you guys think that his will cause something else to go wrong or should i take it and get it reflashed? PLease tell me what you guys think.

It sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter before shifts. Say you have shifts set for 5900 rpms, but the rev limiter is set to 5800. The PCM would shut you down before you ever reached the 5900 shift point. When you ease up on the throttle, the shift point is lower, so it shifts for you. This is a tuning issue and should be correctable using the handheld tuner you spoke about (if you can find it). If not, you should look into the Kenne Bell whipple upgrade package. It gives you custom tuning, new injectors, and has been shown to give out lots more power than using the whipple computer. This tuning from Kenne Bell will correct your shift points and rev limiters as well.

I guess what iam trying to say is those of you that installed the whipple did you have to make any changes to the pcm, or did you guys just install the whipple computer? If all you guys did was install the whipple computer and didnt mess with the pcm then i will go to the dealer and have them reflash my pcm. That way it will bring my shift points back down and the tranny will be able to shift in full throttle.

No reflashing is done to the stock pcm with the Whipple kit. All that it uses to run "properly" is done with their own computer (Whipple EFI -the little black box) that comes with the kit and splices into some of the stock pcm wires.
So yes you can go to a dealer and have them reflash your stock pcm back to stock and the Whipple will still function properly.

I dont want a tune right now, i want to see if reflashing the computer will make my tranny work right. If not i afraid that i am going to have to be sinking some money into the tranny. Thanks for the advice and let you guys know what happens.
