Default whipple is lean how to make richer:

I went to carlsbad calif raceway today. ran my 2000 5.3 ecsb with sick whipple. runs way to hot for me egt was 1550 in quarter at the 2 lb default setting. when i tried 7 psi i backed off before the traps cause i hit 1650degrees. i ran 15.66 stock minus the tail gate and spare. then down to 14.84 at 94 with jba duals hypertech volant gms maf bbk throttle body and no back seat with 16 inch drag radials. today with about 300 lbs more wieght and running street 17 escalade 2657017. taller gearing. i also lost the hypertech shifts raised to 6100 which dropped the stock truck .3 in the quarter.so heavier taller geared and stock shift points.2 lbs ran 15.25to 15.33at the aborted 7 psi it ran 14.89 coasting through the lights.i think the injectors from whipple come on to late.in third its like a passing gear when they finally kick in. how do i get this to run and still pass california smog.also have maf and tps trouble codes along with a 102 low mass input factory ses is on.

First off, you need to put the stock MAF back on, I have herd bad stories about the GMS leaning the engine out with a whipple. Second if you are running the hypertech engine tune you need to put it back to stock. Have you checked your timing & KR. What plugs are you running and what gap?

It sounds like you have some serious problems. Ever since I had mine it has ran extreemly rich. Every time I dynoed mine you can literaly see when the auxilary injectors kick in, thehe air/fuel would go from 12.5/1 & then drop off the chart that stopped at 10/1. Have you hooked it up to some diagnostic software to check the timing, KR, MAF etc to see what is realy going on.

i am going to whipple in fresno on march 30. if they cant fix it then i will be desperate. but i am sure money will fix all. the factory diagnostic port is not much good cause the whippe computer alters the signal to the factory computer so you get false data.
