8ALTNG has a fully forged 4.8 for sale but other than that you have to have custom pistons made and not sure on the other parts but the easiest thing to do is bore it out and use LS1 off the shelf parts

a 4.8 is the same a a 5.3 except for the crank or rods(not sure which one just that it has a shorter stroke)

ls1 has a 4.00" bore correct?

so if i just bore out the 4.8L what displacment will it be? 5.0L?

also could i just get 5.3L rods and it would then be a 5.3L correct? or am i wrong?

im also gonna bet it has different rods because from what i have read all of the LSX motors have the same crank.

no, the ls1 bore is something around a 3.722 or something like that

only the lq4, lq9 and ls2 have 4.0" bore

im pretty sure all lsxs dont have the same crank but i may be wrong.

its probably the rods, but yes putting the 5.3 stroke inthe 4.8/5.3 block makes it a 5.3. and boring the 5.3 makes is a 5.7L iron block LS1. CurtD is doing pretty good with one, over 600rwhp with a front mount turbo on 10psi i think

Forged 4.8L lower end with ported and polished LS1 heads.. 2000.00 plus shipping. The crank is balanced for the pistons and rods. and the flexplate has been weighted to work with the the engine. Let me know.

The only thing I would do is re-ring it.

i was gonna do a 4.8L bored out to the standard 5.3L bore, 5.3L forged rods, ARP main studs, Ported 6.0L heads, Springs, retainers, LS6 cam or a little bit bigger boost cam.

throw a built 4l60e & ford 8.8" in my truck with a GT67 turbo and just go for a 120mph trap.

4.8/5.3 have the same bore. The 4.8 has a shorter stroke and longer rods. 5.3,5.7,6 Have the same crank and rod lengths, but different bores.

Oh and a 5.3 can be safely bored to 5.7 bore make it easy to buy forged pistons for. You would then have an iron block 5.7 (LS1).

so i would need a 5.3/5.7/6.0 crank and 5.3L rods then bore it out to 3.722 and i would have an iron block 5.7L. from a 4.8L? or i could just buy a 5.3L. The 4.8 is a strong motor though correct.

I want a motor with alot of topend. so maybe a smaller displacment motor is what i want. Does anyone make connecting rods for the 4.8L? If so then i will just get forged rods, and bore it out to 3.722.
