Where to get all my ls1 parts?
#1
I sat down and started making a list of all the things I'm going to need when I go to do my swap. I started looking up some things on the internet today but some just seem to be MIA. I can't even find head gaskets for an ls1 on advance, napa or summits websites.
So far my list is as follows but I'm sure there will be a lot more...
4 oil pump mounting bolts
4 valley cover bolts
head gaskets
ex man gaskets
oil pan gasket
intake gasket
serp belt
all 30 head bolts
crankshaft balancer bolt
rear timing cover gasket
front timing cover gasket
valve cover gasket
cylinder head dowel pins
cylinder head vapor vent pipe gaskets
water pump gasket
I'm also unsure as to whether or not I can use my 4.8's oil pump, pickup tube & windage tray. Anyone know about that?

GmPartsDirect is going to be the cheapest place to get all you Stock LS1 parts(gaskets,bolts,etc...) and thats even if you know someone at a dealership that will give them to you at liek a 4% markup which I think they are required. I have a good freind at a dealership and he cant beat GMPartsDirect. As far as performance parts its all about searching the sponsors and finding sales. Make sure you buy GM gaskets though!

Thanks Dub silverado and tigerfan.
01blackerado - no doubt, that's where i got the motor. but there's not too many new gaskets and such floating around there
littledevil - relax bro. its a longblock with the heads off, therefore i need ALL the gaskets. and the previous owner used the oil pump bolts on his new engine. anything else youd like to scream about?

For the odd bolts, check out Ebay. I picked up a nice SS Allen head set (Engine Dress Up) that included the valley cover, timing chain cover, oil pan, and other external bolts.
Several of the sponsors carry the heavy duty ARP stuff, even the gaskets. Check out Thunder Racing---------->
If you need head bolts, I'd recommend getting the head studs. I hear it make the installation alot easier if you need to replace the heads while the motor is in he truck. Plus you don't have to worry about cleaning out the holes.
GMPartsdirect will have everything you need too, just don't be in a hurry to get the stuff.
I'm not sure if an oil pan gasket is available. They're riveted in from the factory. I think the replacement consists of Permatex. I'll have to look in the Haynes to confirm this.
Where abouts in Western PA are you?

I can't believe they would have head, intake or exhaust gaskets...?
You should be able to find the gasket PN's in the Official Part/Accessory number thread

there are tons of parts for cheaper than you'll find em anywhere!!!
