When to switch to synthetic oils???
#1
Morning guys!
Just curious, at what mileage should I start switching over to synthetic oils? I'd like to do the engine, trans and rear end. I'm at about 600 miles right now, and I've always heard that you should wait till 5000 miles before you switch them over.
I'd like to hear your thoughts....

I'd wait til around 3000 to switch engine oil.
The rear diff in these trucks allready have synthetic fluid in them.
Personally I wouldnt worry about switching the transmission fluid.

You can switch over at any time. I typically change all my new vehicles out at around 1000 miles for engine oil, 5000 for diffs, and whenever I feel ambitious with the trans fluid unless a manual trans then it is at 5000 with the diffs. It will not hurt anything.

I switched my engine oil to Mobil1 at about 700 miles...still using conventional trans fluid. As mentioned above the rear diff has syn from the factory, and I switched my front diff over at about 15k.
