Wheel Q'?
#1
I plan to get new rims in the future and im unsure of the size i should get. I have heard mixed things/ horror stories about 20's and large rims. I was wondering if they do actually screw the trans. Some people say yes, some say its a myth. Would it be better to go with 16's on a good tire such as gt II? thanks in advance

my opinions...
1)you can still go fast on 20's. its just a little harder to do
2)if you wanna go stoopid fast yur gunna blow the weak transmission anyway, as for 20s making it worse i dunno
3)if you wanna look good and go fast, go with an 18" rim on a good tire
18" rim with a 285/50/18 seems to be a popular choice. just look around in people's sigs for pics. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> fast4.8 and <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> bigkid have some nice setups as do many others, those are just 2 that come to mind. and of course you saw <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> paul's setup <drool>
and see if you can find pics of MIX's truck. i think he posted some a while back. i don't remember his wheel/tire combo but it looked good.

I run Epic 20's on my truck w/275/45r20gt II's. There damn heavy 110+lbs a piece. IMO i would get a lightweight 18. get some gt II's for the front, and a drag radial for the rear. that way you candrive hard on them, hook up in the straight, and still look cool doing it.

I don't see how the 20's could mess up the tranny. It might have an adverse affect on the braking system due to the increased unsprung weight of a heavier wheel/tire combo. I myself run 20" Boyds which feel lighter (never weighed them) than my factory chrome steel wheels and tires.
I picked up a little ET by switching to the 20s!
Here's a pic of my truck (20X8.5 Boyds, 4/6 DJM drop)

thanks for the responses. I think i'll go with light 18's like maximumboom said. Never the less, scream your ride is bitchin and i was wondering where you got your rims from. I have an EC indigo blue 01 with the same roll pan and dual stainless 'vette tips. probably getting 2 in shackles soon too. thanks again
