Default What's your normal tranny temp?

I was just curious because I just installed my Caddy gauges and my truck runs somewhere between 150-170 degrees.

Mine runs the same, 150-170, with a PermaCool trans cooler. I saw close to 200 once, ambient temperature was about 92*, really humid with ac on and stuck in traffic. I know that the guage isn't totally accurate, but it has to be better than nothing. Oh yea, it's a Denali cluster.

I'm assuming that stock trans temps should be around 160-180 under normal driving conditions, and close to 195* during extreme conditions, but don't quote my on that. I'm also considiring a B&M deep aluminum pan. It holds about 2 or so more quarts than the factory steel pans, and it dissapates heat better. Although I've heard that some guys run into clearance issues with that pan and the exhaust Y- pipe and having to remove the Y pipe everytime they need to take the pan off....gonna have to do a search and see what I find.

I have a B&M deep pan. It fits fine, no clearance issues. It has fins to help dissapate heat better. My temps stay between 150-170 even on hot days in stop and go traffic. I've also got a 2600 stall. It did stay around 200 in the Smokies going 25-40 mph. Tq converter could not lock up at lower speeds. Have a tranny cooler waiting to go on if I'd get of my lazy rear. Stays in the 150-170 range even on steep grades with converter locked. This is on a Team Tripp superduty tranny. On the stock tranny I would see 190-200 in heavy traffic.

I was wondering if you had a cooler or not, what rating is the factory one?

My truck ran hotter after the e-fans...

Stock tranny cooler...

I run around 140-150 now. Up to 165-ish if I'm sitting in traffic.

Im usually around 150-170 and I have the biggest tranny cooler I could fit. I also have a 3000 stall and its around 95 here. Stop and go gets it up to about 190. This is on my escalade cluster.

I have my Autometer Ultra-Light tranny gauge wired into where the line pressure is tested..actually direct fit for the little Autometer sensor.... normal highway running at 65-70mph it will run 180*-190*. In traffic it'll push 195*-210* on the gauge. Relize this is a 5.3L Avalanche with no cooler. I have had it all summer and this is what i see.. this winter should see cooler temps maybe the 180* highway 190* traffic.
