Default What's the proper route to take?

All right guys.....

My goal is to have a reliable low 13-sec daily driven truck. I already have a UPD (big deal, i know ), and I'm looking at a Spintech exhaust system next. Headers will probably come farther down the line.

What should I do next? Should I just go the supercharger route? Or should I add the fans, a cam, heads, etc? Which will be less expensive in the long run?

I know I'm ignoring drivetrain mods like an Eaton rear end and some 3.73's, but those will come further down (or maybe first depending on what you guys say....)

So, I'm comin to all of y'all to help me decide. I know you guys know more about all this stuff than I do. Teach me, intelligent ones .

Thanks guys....

A couple months ago I was in the same boat that you are in. After alot of reading on various sites I've come to the conclusion to buy a supercharger first than everything else after. My list should get me and you into the reliable 13 sec group.

Supercharger
Electric fan
yank 3200
headers(long)
exhaust
transgo shift kit
Major tuning
-Maybe mods: don't know how much these will help
bbk 80mm tb
granatelli mafs

Anything else that should be added to the list, please let me know. No n2o for me though.

Im think your gonna have some tranny probs after the sc and bad ones after the stall so maybe mod your tranny up first. A good sc friendly cam would be a nice combo also. btw I would do headers and exaust at the same time since your gonna have to have the headers (flanges)welded anyway.

Who need's a SC for a low 13 second truck?

Personally I would stick to all motor upgrades first(headers,fans,programing,convert.,etc...)You will have more fun as you go and you wont have to worry about the tranny for a while.

If your going N20 and or s/c you will probably need a built tranny. There are a bunch of good ones out there flp make them, another good one I heard about is at http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm

Other than that the basic upgrades you can do are some servos and a transgo shift kit.

Thanks for all the replies guys...

What headers should I go with? And with only an intake so far, will I lose power with the headers and a 3" exhaust?

The driveline upgrades are a must. I'm gonna order a new Eaton rear end w/ some 3.73's in the near future. I'll probably get a shift kit and a servo soon, too. It's all about the lack of funds.

So, to be a reliable 13 second daily driver, I need to get: electric fans, LS1 Edit, a cam (good suggestions?), pulleys, and possibly heads?

Or should I just skip all that and get a Radix and upgrade the drivline?

Sorry for all the questions, but I can't make up my mind on all this....and like I said, you guys know more than me

Keep the suggestions comin!

Lotsofn -

You must already have some type of custom tune for your truck to be that fast. What type of tuner are you using at the moment.

I think that is my major problem with my setup is that hypertech tuning isn't enough anymore.
