Angry What's it going to take to get traction ???

I have recently switched from 245/75-16's to 285-50-20's...the new combo is over 20lbs heavier than the old one and is 1.2" taller as well...with the old combo traction was non-existant !!, 300' burnouts were normal, I could bark the tires HARD on the 1-2 shift EVERY TIME, stop signs were an excercise in frustration and from a 25mph roll in first I could spin them all the way into second gear !!!

I can STILL turn the tires over for 100' or better from a dead stop by stalling the coverter and stepping off the brake !! this IS less than before but still a LOOOONG smoky burnout (Which does NOTHING for tire longevity and 1/4 mile times), the 1-2 shift will still bark (although not as bad), stopsigns aren't AS bad but I can still turn them over hard (20' black stripes) just by punching the gas (no braking to stall the converter), the only thing I cant do now is spin from a roll (oh goody)

I REALLY figured that the bigger, wider, heavier tire would at least keep me from spinning on the launches and would eliminate the 1-2 shift tire slippage

so....what's it going to take to stop spinning on the launch (stalled converter...1900rpm's) ???

put it in 4 wheel drive
What stall is your converter again? With a 4x4's stiff suspension -especially on a 2500 truck, it is difficult to get the thing to squat on takeoffs. I would say take out a leaf in the rear, but I still don't think this will help you squat too much. Doing this may also cause some axle wrap that you would have to get tracion bars to help out with.
I have looked at some 4x4 truck videos of diesels running in the low 12 high 11 ets and I notice they all have some monster tires to stave traction loss from their very high torque motors.

20's arent the best for traction because of no sidewall flex.
Does your truck have a sway bar on the front? You could take that off for better weight transfer. Maybe softer rear springs? Maybe relocate the battery to the bed?
