Default Whats the Deal Here?

ok 2002 chevy SCSB 5.3 373s,jba shorty headers, no cats, 3in single ex. 26in nitto drags.Volant air intake and hypertech programmer. My buddy went 14.19 @ 94.94mph. with 2.1 60fts. with all the talk about converters, he opted for the yank 3000 with trans cooler. went back to the track and had big traction problems with the nittos, so he bought a set of 26x11.50 et streets. went back to the track and now cant get better than a 14.3 at 92.86 mph. whats going on? im thinkin with the converter, easy 13.8 or 13.7. The 60fts. were down to 1.9s but the ET and MPH are both worse. this has happened several times at different tracks and even with cooler weather. well could the difference in MPH be because the et streets "grow" on top end causing loss of top end? He was told by paul at thunder racing that his tires are causing the loss. We are both scratching our heads on this one and hes now $1000 in the hole with no better results. Any help or advice will be a big help. thanks a lot Justin

I have the same size M/T's and ALWAYS run about 2 mph and 2 tenths slower with them. The stock Generals have been great but this year I am planning on some 30 inch tall slicks.

Im glad hes not the only one then. Should he put the nittos on again and try and get some traction by a little better burn out or Is the problem possibly with the converter? I bought his nittos and can easily swap him with his ET streets to see if my times go down and his go up.

What size rims does he have the M/T's on? I have the 10.5 wide on stock aluminum wheels and will be going to a wider rim soon b/c I have heard about the "growing" because the tires are really too wide for the rim and make the sidewalls bow more and could make the tire taller during the run.

red53 your right on, he has the 26x11.50s on the stock size 16in. aluminum rims. can the tires grow all that much to slow down the run? sound like going with the ET.s streets is sort of a trade off better traction and low end with the top end suffering. also i noticed your from BR and was wondering if you go out to State Capitol Or NPR often?

NPR is the better track, which is where I got my 13's on my previous truck and my current one, and was closer when I lived near Gonzales. Now State Capitol may be closer since I'm in Baton Rouge but I prefer NPR.
