What's causing my raspy exhaust?
#13
On my old 08 Silverado I had Long Tubes/No cats 3" single pipe and a dynomax bullet and it was pretty raspy at the mid-high rpms, I stepped it up to 4" after the bullet and added a factory 4" resonator off a cummins mega cab and it had ZERO rasp. Sounded perfect, loud when I opened it up but at cruise no drone and no rasp anymore.
On my Tahoe now I have Long Tubes, no cats, 3" single exhaust and 14" magnaflow muffler (and chopped off the factory resonator) and dont have any raspy tone, the magnaflow works pretty well to get rid of it.
And just as another option back when I had diesel trucks, I went with an FTE resonator (looks like the spiral flow muffler design with an auger type plate in the case) and it got rid of the raspy tone as well on a diesel really well. I think they still make the Flo Pro Twister (same design) also?
