how big of a cam can you run with your stock heads before its to big and you start lossing power ????

do you want to run a stall???

 

i am going to pull the trans out next week and get it rebuilt and put a tb stall in it i am mainly wondering how big can i go before i start to out flow my heads i was looking at something in the .580 range for lift and i want something around a 220 for duration is that gonna be to much for stock heads

 

dozerdan has a 23x/24x .61x/.61x in his 5.3.

 

if thats on stock heads thats a lot and i have nothing to worry bout

 

that's on stock heads but you want a good 3600-3800 stall to go that big. TB stall won't cut it.

 

i wont be going that big 580 ish is what i am thinking

 

unless you get a custom grind the only cam with around that lift is a comp 224/228. Ive seen this cam make over 400 in a 5.7
