Default What is the top speed of '02 5.3??

I've got a 2002 Ext Cab Silverado LT, 4x4, with a 5.3 liter Vortec. Just curious what the top end is. The governer kicks in at around 95 mph, but it pulls hard up to that point, so know it has to have a lot more in it, not that I'd really want to be going triple digit speeds in a truck that high. Just curious what it would do if the governer was removed.

depends on what tuner you got to do it i think that ls1 edit will allow it to go to almost 150 or like hpp3 will allow 127 somewhere abouts there so it depends and it will take a while with just the hpp3 to hit 127 trust me i know and it was not recommended hope this helps

I'll hopefully have the HPtuner here in a month or two seeing you can now get 2 vehicles for the price of 1. So gonna throw the SS and the truck on there. I'm not worried about what I can bump the governer up too, just curious what the actual top speed of the truck is.

you should be able to bump the governor to 255 mph, like the fbody ls1 software allows. doesnt mean anything though. i would be interested in the real top speed. flying bricks are dangerous.

I would think the max would be about 135-140 mph but I wouldn't take a truck over 120.

my boss' truck i've reprogrammed with hptuners and moved the speed limiter up on as well as a few other changes. i have it set to shift into 4th at 128 at w.o.t. and he has been able to achive that. i plan to move that to just over 130 next time i get into the tune. i'd say around 130 should be acchievalble. his has only the tuning and drop in k&n filter for mods. the truck is an 03' with 3.73 gear, 265/75R16 wrangler ats tires, and protec box (50lbs lighter than normal box). ecsb

My truck feels like a Caddy at 110. I have banged 128-130 many times and the truck is still pulling pretty good! I have 3.42's and 29" tall tires.
