I have got another cam swap coming up hopefully soon, just wondering what timing chaing everyone is running?
Also when replacing it, is there any special advice or tips?
Thanks

i'll probably just keep my stock one since you have to remove the oil pump to change it and I've seen way too many cases of o-rings getting pinching requiring a complete tear down again. Plus, when was the last time you heard of one breaking.

Stock one isn't ideal, it's too sloppy for a performance application. Although the stock chains are made for GM by cloyes, they're intentionally made sloppy so that the robots can load the chain onto the front of the engine with ease. A good timing set will not have slop in it. The sloppyness of the stocker will allow for the cam timing to change during drive along with causing the valvetrain to "Snap" or "lash". This snapping or lashing is hard on lifters, pushrods, rockers and springs. When replacing the timing set use this kent moore tool:
for removing the crank sprocket, then take your old crank sprocket to tap on your new crank sprocket and seat it into place. The tool is only $10 and will not scratch the crank or hurt the crank gear. It's a LS1 specific tool: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem= Then install chain, check your valve events, adjust accordingly the reassemble engine
