the 01 and newer 6.0's have the same crank flange as all 4.8/5.3/5.7, the older 6.0's(the ones with iron heads) have a thinker crank flange. i shouldn't say it is worthless, but i don't know what would need to be done to make it work.

This means that it won't be a direct drop in. You can either have someone machine the flange down or buy a crank from a 5.3/5.7/'01+6.0L.

all i would have to do is buy an 01+ crank and the problem would be solved? right? i was thinking about a 4" stroker crank anyways so that would desolve any problem right.

Any other 3.622" crank besides the 99-00 6.0L ones will work. The 5.3L motors, 5.7L LS1/LS6 motor, and '01+ 6.0L motors have the correct crank.

If you get the 4" crank it will also solve the problem but require new pistons to work with the longer stroke. I think you're getting new pistons either way though right? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Basically, the block is the only thing you'd want from the one you bought. The crank wont fit in your truck. The heads are worthless. Pistons... well, you were going to replace them. I guess you could reuse your rods.

You shoulda went ahead and bought an 01+ 6.0L since the heads are the same design as the ls6 heads. Also you would want to get the 5.3 heads you are talking about using matched to the bore size you will be using. No use having a 3.78-3.90 bore head on a 4.03 bore block. Then, if you didn't want the 6.0L heads you could have sold them for around $500.

STOP FU$%ING AROUND mixing and matching a bunch of junk together, just buy a complete running 6.0(01 or newer) and get everything you need in one shot. then decide where to go from there. it is hard to beat the 6.0 for a starting platform unless you are looking for an aluminum block.
