Default What are the tallest slicks/radials for 16in rims?

I'm probably gonna get an extra set of 16 x 8 rims for some slicks sometime next year. I'm trying to find some at least 28" tall. The 26" would look kinda goofy and mess my shift points up too much I would think. I remember Parish or somebody saying something about 28" slicks or radials. Thanks.

You can get a M/T slick as tall as 33.5/16.5-16. For the track a 26" would give you the best results but youll have to change your shift points

Hoosier makes a 28x10 or so. That is what I am planning on running next season. The 26 has always been too short to work well on my truck and the 30's I had this year were too much.

Hoosier Quick Time Pros are available in 28X10.5 (I think) and ET Streets are available in several 27-28" tall sizes.

The only DR that I've found that is 28" tall is the 305/45/18 BFG. Supposedly M&H is going to make a 275/55/16 DR, but I've yet to get an official date from them. I've been checking w/ them for almost a year now, and still nothing.

With the mods you have, a 28" slick would kill your e.t.. The 26" would benefit you best and would do nothing to your shift points. About looking goofy, I thought you went to race???

I went from my 27" tall 20's to a 26" tall DR, and the truck would bounce off of the rev limiter. One of the reasons that I'm trying to find a 27-28" tall DR.

So going from my 265/70/16 tires to a 26" radial/slick in the back won't hurt my shift points? If not, then that's cool!

Maybe your shift point and rev limit are too close. I go from 29.5" 20's to 26x10.50 e.t. streets with no probs. Smaller diameter tire will allow the engine to rev faster and go a little further past the actual shift point. Try putting the rev limiter ~300-400 rpm's higher than the shift point. *Cold weather will do this also b/c the engine runs a little stronger.

Hmm, my limiter IS 300-400 RPM above the shift point. Isn't there a shift point table based on MPH, not RPM? So if you change the tire size and throw the speedo/VSS off, then wouldn't the shift points be incorrect?
