What size dowel rods for cam swap?

They dont call it the Russian Roulette method for nothing you guys

I am curious though, do you guys take out the pushrods or just loosen the rockers?

I pull the rods too. I have always used the wooden dowels. I have fairly new lifter trays in my motor. So hopefulky no lifters will fall.

$0.88 @ Lowes. I cut it in half and used the two pieces. Cheap insurance despite being a 4X,XXX mile engine.

I always pull the pushrods.
my dowels are steel, I lube them up real good and even bent the ends to give me something to pull on taking them out.
