what to shift at w/ whipple?
#1
ever since i've had the whipple on my truck i have had the shift points set to around 5800-5900rpm. i have noticed that ~5500rpm the boost will start increasing pretty quick until the shift point then drop back down. am i spinning it faster than the cam is good for? what are you other whipple guys shifting at? if i am going out of the cam's powerband, what cam would work good? i've heard the 02 LS6 cam is pretty good for a FI motor.

I have mine set at 5900 with the stock 5.3-never tried anything lower. I had the LS6 cam in the 6 liter for about 500 miles (before experiencing mechanical difficulties) and I had it shifting at 6300. I took it to the track once after the cam install and it ran the same numbers as the stock cam although the weather was considerably worse that night. I am changing other things this time around so I'll never really be able to say what the LS6 cam was worth by itself.

i had mine at 5900rpm's. from idle to ~5500 the boost guage will sit on 5 lbs. but after that it rises really quick w/ the rpm's till it shifts (would see about 9 lbs.) it looks like the motor runs out of breath. anybody else's truck do this?
