what is the risk of clogging cats
#1
With a radix at 7psiam I really running the risk of clogging the stock cats? I was going to have a custom built cat back done, but if i should replace the cats, then i'll have them do that too
On a side note, has anyone heard the SSW chambered mufflers... I'm in love with hooker aerochambers.. but the lack of a SS casing has me a bit worried. They are cheap so worst cast I gotta replace them every couple years..

Mine got pluged up with only 75k on my 4.8 with shorty headers and intake. Worst part of it was my buddy comp. checked the motor and said it was done so I bought a 5.3 and installed it total for about $1300 and it didnt start because I didnt fix the prob. I took it to the stealership and they put new cats on for free because of the 80k mile emisions warranty. Ouch!!! Leason learned!!!!! Cats suck, my buddy is dumb, and im dumb for listening to him. Oh ya and GET RID OF THEM IF YOU CAN!

Your shorties and intake didn't plug the cats. Your tune or lack there of, did.
Cats don't necessarily "clog." They melt down due to improper air fuel tuning. If you ever saw some heavy fuel / carbon residue on your exhaust tip, your tune is to blame and not the cats. The A/F was not corrected for the mods made causing an over rich or over lean condition forcing overfueling of the car to prevent Over-temping the cats. A proper tune would prevent this.
The very same cats (internally) on your truck are used on the new ZR1 650 HP Vette and I can assure you the cats will not "clog" or fail unless some one tampers with A/F conditions. Cats are fine when they are taken into consideration as an integral part of the car.
