im just curious what numbers to expect of a 4.8 completely stock on the dyno ?

 

very low......i'd say around 195-200hp maybe 210.....i have a 4.8 stock......it sucks......that's why i have a 6.0 i'm bout to drop in......

 

If it's an 03 or up I say 220-230ish.

 

Unless you plan on making a maximum of 300 RWHP NA with every bolt on possible, I wouldnt even bother with it. Its all a matter of what your goals are. There are some 4.8's with power adders that are making some pretty good numbers. I think we just recently had a member run a high 11 with a turbo kit, but it is an internally built 4.8 running high boost. I just put a 100 shot nitrous kit on mine to satisfy my power needs for now until I can save up enough to drop in the 6.0.

one of my friends put down 250rwhp with his 03 4.8l gmc. only mods were a k&n drop-in filter, flowmaster exhaust, and i tuned it with hp tuners.

 

mine when it was stock with a K&N drop in filter and a flowmaster single in dual out made 205/236
