Definitely get the timing chain; the LS2 chain is a great replacement for ~$30.

its just the chain itself rather than the whole setup. (there are no gears) I too would like to know where you get these at.

If you do the chain, I would still get a new o-ring seal for your oil pump. You will have to disconnect it from the suction tube to get the new chain on. You will have to unbolt it from the block also and from that point it will just pull off the crank. That is why I suggested putting in a new one at the same time. Hadn't seen a lot of talk about oil pumps here lately.

When you go to putting the pick up tube back into place - in the oil pump, before you connect it back to the block, let the pump spin over to the left to accomodate the pickup tube, tighten the tube back in place and then bolt the oil pump back onto the block. It will require a little force to get it to spin back over to the right at this point, but not very difficult. If you bolt to the block first and then try to insert the pickup tube, there is stress on the tube and there is always a chance of pinching the o-ring and not getting a good seal. Just a suggestion. After doing it a couple of times, this way worked best for me. You'll see what I mean when you get in there, if it is a little unclear for you.

I got my pump from Thunder Racing, but I am sure other sites have them. I think I paid $139 about 2yrs ago. Not sure if I would get one off of ebay, unelss it is from a performance business that uses ebay to sell some of their products.

SDPC (sposor) also sells the ls2 chain for around $28. You have to call to order cus they don't have it listed on the site.
