What the hell happend? (trans ??)

When i was parking my truck in home depot, goin around the parking lot, the My SS felt funny like the TC wasn't lockin up right or somthing, but i parked it and came out, and got back on the road, and the truck was stuck in 3rd gear!! Yes, i had it in drive, i could manually shift to 2nd and 1st just fine, but in drive, it stayed in 3rd, wouldn't come out nomatter what i did. I got to a stop light, shut it off, let it sit for a second, and then restarted, and then it was fine.... Then a couple miles down the road, i got gas, and when i was leaving i pulled ahead at about 5-10 mph, and the TC didn't lock up, but then it did with a thud, which it has never done before, but after it did that, it's fine, i drove it all the way home no problems, restarted it twice just to make sure... Is there somthing wrong with my truck or what????

How cold was it in Florida. I know when its colder here the fluid in the trans needs to warm up for it to go into overdrive. When its not warm enough, the trans will just stay in third before OD will engage. Then when the fluid reaches the right tempature the computer allows it to go into OD. I dont know about the Thud it made, but sometimes when it gets colder. 35 or below it takes 10 min or so for everything to shift right.

It's 68 here, not cold at all. I came from the mall to homedepot so the tranny and engine was warm. *** forgot to mention this, not only would it not go to OD, but it wouldn't downshift either, even from a stop... Really freaked me out i thought i was going to have to take it in...
