Talking What do you guys think about this cam?

I was looking at Texas motorsports page and I found a excellant cam kit, but most of the cams that they offer are aggressive. One that I found is a 220/220 .564/.564 with a 114 lobe seperation. I dont want a really aggressive idle. It has a good power range from 1500-6300 would it be a good cam for a 5.3 in a rcsb with a stock converter? I want a substantial increase in torque off the line with good mid power. Would this cam do it? Would the 220/220 be better than the custom comp 212/218 high lift with a 114 lobe?

that isnt that radical of a cam, you will be able to tell its there, i think you should invest in a tc, it will give you more results than the cam and it will give you more options later down the road when you install a cam, and other things, imo its the best bang for the buck next to n2o, if youre running stock exhaust, you might want to consider running a split duration cam, kind of compensate for the restrictivenss, maybe try a search, there plenty of info about the 212/218.

I think the cam will be very noticeable in a 5.3. I hear a lot of conflicting info on these cams in the LS1 side of things. Some say you'll never hear lope, others say that's is quite apparent. Some idle at like 550rpm in their autos, others idle at 850 in their M6's.

I think with a 5.3, to get what you're looking for, I'd go with a 206/212 from comp. I think even the 212/218 will be noticeable (little less lowend, leading to the desire for a converter) in the 5.3.
